How we score
Every product gets an overall score out of 100 plus a breakdown by criterion. Our scores are independent — no advertiser can buy or sway them. Here's exactly how it works.
1. We gather the data
For each product we collect manufacturer specs, real multi-merchant prices and user feedback. Prices refresh automatically so they stay current.
2. We score each criterion
Specs are converted to 0–100 scores using calibrated scales that are consistent across the whole category — memory, display, performance and value for a laptop; suction, navigation, battery and value for a robot vacuum. The same scale applies to every model in a category, so the scores are comparable.
3. We compute the overall score
The overall score sums up how the product performs within its category. A model is never judged against a different category — a laptop and a TV don't share criteria.
4. We keep it current
As prices move and new models launch, scores and rankings recalculate. Our best-of guides reflect the market as it is now, not a frozen snapshot.
