Sponsored placements: terms of sale

1. Seller

2. Scope

These terms govern the online booking of advertising placements (banners) on compare-robots.fr. They are for businesses only: the advertiser books on behalf of a company or organisation. The French version prevails.

3. Placements and duration

Each placement is sold by the week, Monday 00:00 to Sunday 24:00 (Paris time). During a booked week the placement is exclusive: a single banner is shown in it.

The description, banner size and price of each placement are those shown on the booking page when ordering. The number of impressions depends on the site's audience and is not guaranteed; the statistics provided are for information.

4. Prices and payment

Prices are in euros excluding tax; 20 % VAT is added. Payment is processed by Stripe; Compare Robots never sees card details.

An order may group several placements. At checkout the total is only authorised. Once each banner has been reviewed, only the approved placements are charged, in one go; the rest of the authorisation is released. If every banner is declined, the authorisation is cancelled and nothing is charged. The invoice, showing the VAT number given at checkout, is issued when the payment is charged and can be downloaded from the booking page.

5. Banner review

Every banner and the page it links to are checked before they run, usually within two business days. Declined in particular: unlawful, misleading, shocking or discriminatory content; products whose advertising is banned or restricted; banners imitating the site's interface; broken links or links to harmful pages.

Compare Robots may decline a banner giving only a short reason. If approval happens after a booked week has started, the banner runs from approval with no price reduction, unless the delay is our fault.

6. Editorial independence

Every banner is shown with a “Sponsored” label. Booking a placement has no effect on the site's scores, rankings, comparisons or articles.

7. Advertiser's obligations

The advertiser warrants that it holds all rights in the banner's elements (text, images, trademarks) and that the landing page is lawful, and indemnifies Compare Robots against third-party claims in this respect. It does not change the landing page in a way that alters its nature while the banner runs.

8. Cancellation

Before approval, the advertiser may cancel from the booking page or by e-mail to ads@compare-robots.fr; the payment authorisation is then cancelled. After approval a booking can be neither cancelled nor refunded, unless Compare Robots cannot run it: weeks not delivered are then refunded.

Compare Robots may suspend a banner whose landing page comes to breach section 5; remaining weeks are then not refunded.

9. Liability

Compare Robots' liability is limited to the amount paid for the booking concerned. A temporary outage of the site gives right to a refund only beyond twenty-four hours in a booked week, pro rata to the outage.

10. Personal data

Data needed for the booking (name, work e-mail, company) is processed to perform and invoice the order, under the site's privacy policy. Serving banners sets no cookie and does not track visitors.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by French law. Failing an amicable settlement, the courts of Brest have jurisdiction.
