Mirrorless (hybrid) is now the standard — lighter, with better autofocus and video. DSLRs remain capable and often cheaper second-hand.
Sensor & resolution
Sensor size matters more than megapixels for image quality. 20–33 MP suits most; high-resolution bodies help only for large prints or heavy cropping.
