How to choose
Mirrorless vs DSLR
Mirrorless (hybrid) is now the standard — lighter, with better autofocus and video. DSLRs remain capable and often cheaper second-hand.
Sensor & resolution
Sensor size matters more than megapixels for image quality. 20–33 MP suits most; high-resolution bodies help only for large prints or heavy cropping.
Video & lenses
If you shoot video, check 4K/8K and stabilisation. Remember the lens system — bodies are only half the cost, and the glass you can add matters.
How much to spend
Capable cameras start around €400. €700–€1,500 buys strong hybrids and lenses; pro full-frame bodies and action/drone flagships go higher.

Do more megapixels mean better photos?
Not always — sensor size, lens and processing matter more. 20–33 MP is plenty for most; high-MP bodies help only for large prints or heavy cropping.
